Sourdough waffles is one the delicious breakfast one can dream of with crispy exterior, soft and airy inside, with a hint of tang and sweetness. Using sourdough not only makes it delicious but also healthy as the overnight fermentation helps in easy digestion.
What is Sourdough starter and why is it healthy??
Sourdough is also known by live yeast/natural yeast, it is one of the ancient forms of making yeast which are used for bread making from many thousands of years. This natural yeast can be used in almost any recipe which calls for yeast. This Starter is made up of only two things flour and water, the pure magic happens when the lactobacilli in the flour and the air surrounding the flour mixture makes it fermented and vigorous leaven and to develop the flavor of the bread.
Sourdough is considered to be very healthy and nutritious as it helps in neutralizing the phytic acid in the grains and gluten in flour and making it easily digestible, also just a tsp of starter has some millions of healthy gut friendly bacteria known as lactobacillus. It is considered to be full of prebiotics and probiotics, lower glycemic index of grains.
